n-Butane

Formula: C4H10, R600A

What is n-Butane (C4H10)?

n-Butane (C4H10) is a gas at room temperature and is highly flammable, colorless, and easily liquified.  It is denser than air. The gas was discovered to exist naturally in 1912. n-Butane burns more cleanly than coal or gasoline and has a high energy density.

Does n-Butane (C4H10) occur naturally?

n-Butane (C4H10) does not exist in nature in a pure form and therefore, it’s not a natural gas but a component of other gas that is extracted.

FAQs about n-Butane

Is n-Butane gas (C4H10) safe?

If not handled properly n-Butane gas (C4H10) is very unsafe, causing many dangerous health conditions very quickly, including unconsciousness, asphyxia, blood pressure instability, or ventricular fibrillation.  EFC’s culture of safety ensures that n-Butane is always handled properly, safely, and according to industry standards.

Is n-Butane (C4H10) a liquified petroleum gas?

Liquified petroleum gas (LP gas) are fuel gases that contain a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases.  n-Butate is a LP gas along with isobutylene, butadiene, butylene, and propane.
