Difluoromethane is a colorless, flammable gas with a slight ether-like odor. It is shipped as a liquefied gas under its own vapor pressure (207 psig @ 70° F).
Applications of difluoromethane include the following:
- Currently used as a substitute for R-410a in residential and commercial air conditioners in Japan, China, and India
- Plating agent and surface treating agent
- Plasma etching
- Heat transfer fluid
- Used in refrigerant blends
