Principal Design Engineer

We have an immediate opening for a Principal Design Engineer. This position will be responsible for developing high quality detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and providing expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drive the design, development, maintenance and execution of all current and future EFC process systems at all EFC sites.
• Administer and consult on all technical maintenance issues.
• Ensure compliance to all state and federal regulations and design appropriate plant engineering programs and systems.
• Collaborate with various departments to maintain mechanical integrity of all plant programs.
• Oversee the monitoring and reengineering of plant equipment and machinery.
• Ensure the facility is compliant with the relevant regulations and that regular check-ups are carried out to verify that machinery and processes are safe.
• Develops operational plans for projects at the plant, such as renovation or construction, maintenance and machine installation.
• Designs manufacturing layouts, coordinating equipment selections, interacting with contractors and evaluating quotes.
• Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in area of expertise.
• Experienced in designing distillation columns for high complexity / high hazard gas and chemical products.
• Can design process systems from theory all the way through high volume manufacturing implementation.
• The ability to take existing distillation systems and modify them to remove additional impurities, including the experience to design precolumn reactors when necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and 10-20 years related experience.
• Must have 3-5 years of experience with Distillation from design through implementation for high volume manufacturing.
• Computer skills required: Contract Management Systems; Development Software; Inventory Software; Microsoft Office; Project Management Software, AutoCAD or similar.
• Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
• Must be able to use hand tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl, to utilize hand and finger dexterity, sit, stand and walk. Continually required to talk or hear and work near moving mechanical parts. Frequently work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals. Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions.
• While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Employee must be comfortable in both a plant and office environment.
• Must be able to work independently, including any time working off site and/or from home.
